Collection of updates -- Pubmed and biblio; Gbrowse tracks; menu links

We have been pushing a number of efforts in parallel, and many of them are reaching milestones at the same time. Thus there are several updates that we hope will make the overall site more usable and useful to the avian research scientist.

Genome Browser "new developments"

A Zebra Finch "new developments" view has been created. This view will be used to show new features that are in testing and not completely ready for "production use."

To use this new track, select the pulldown box labeled "Data Source".

About the Avian Genomes site

The Avian Genomes web site is a project intended to portray a large body of scientific discoveries, and to ensure the continued emphasis on real impact to people.  The bird as a model system is uniquely capable of representing human conditions neurologically.

But for me personally it is an enjoyable project overall, both in terms of the science and the web technology behind it.  With a dynamic genome browser, a soon-available analysis pipeline, an integrated Wiki, and of course these blog posts, it fills a broad spectrum.
